Earth and Iron Pottery
“Pottery is the process and the products of forming vessels and other objects with clay and other ceramic materials, which are fired at high temperatures to give them a hard, durable form.”
It is so much more than that. When you hold a piece of handmade pottery you hold a piece of the earth, history and an artist’s spirit.
Pottery was not a part of our background or training. Todd was and is a welder, and I had been a nurse for over 25 years. Life threw a curveball, I was diagnosed with MS. So we had to forge a new beginning. We stumbled into the North Carolina Arts Incubator in Siler City and I discovered clay. It became an obsession. After 3 years of playing and learning together with the help of some very gracious potters, we began our journey as Earth and Iron Pottery.
We collaborate on nearly every piece that comes through our in home studio, passing ideas back and forth throughout the process.
Our passion for clay and creating the best handmade items sets us apart. Knowing that someone else enjoys our creations is very heartwarming and thrilling.
We hope you enjoy your pottery as much as we enjoyed making it.
