As event organizers learned during the National’s three-year residency in Greensboro—volunteers are key to a successful event. Building on the success of last year’s Festival, and based on projected audience growth to 175,000 or more if the weather holds as in the past, organizers hope to secure approximately 1,800 volunteers slots for the 2018 event.

Led by NC Folk Festival Director Amy Grossmann, the Festival Volunteer team has updated the online volunteer registration process for 2018. “Our new system will allow volunteers to schedule themselves for exact time slots and specific roles.”

Volunteers may sign up individually or with groups of friends or colleagues at ncfolkfestival.com/volunteer. For more info on registering your civic group to volunteer together, please contact our volunteer coordinators Marcia Woodward and Susan Sassman at volunteer@ncfolkfestival.com. Average volunteer shifts are three hours; volunteers may sign up for more than one shift before, during and after the three-day Festival. There will also be opportunities for volunteers to promote the Festival at other events throughout the summer with the Festival Street Team.

All volunteers will be asked to attend an orientation session; depending on their role, some volunteers will also participate in training sessions. Each volunteer will receive a North Carolina Folk Festival t-shirt and create lasting memories.
