The NC Folk Festival today announced the addition of eight new artists and performing groups who will appear at the Festival the weekend of September 7 – 9 in downtown Greensboro – the Festival’s inaugural season following on the success of the wildly popular three-year residency by the National Folk Festival – which drew more than 400,000 people to downtown Greensboro.
The performers announced today encompass a wide range of traditions and cultures – from New Orleans funk and Delta Blues – to the beautiful West African Kora, Reggae, Afro-Beat and “Kindie” Music. More performers will be announced in the next few weeks.

o Sona Jobarteh, West African Kora – from The Gambia and London, England
o Jarekus Singleton, Delta Blues – from Clinton, MS
o Donna Washington, NC Storyteller – from Durham, NC
o Big Sam’s Funky Nation, New Orleans Funk – from New Orleans, LA
o Big Bang Boom, Kindie Music – from Greensboro, NC
o Wesli, Reggae, Afro Beat, Haitian Rara – from Port-au-Prince, Haiti via Montreal, Quebec
o La Patronal, Latin American brass band – from Lima, Peru
