North Carolina Folk Festival guest curator and performer Rhiannon Giddens was featured recently in the Greensboro News & Record. Giddens told the paper about her love for North Carolina and how it helped shape her Grammy Award-winning career.
“I have always been very vocal about how much North Carolina as a state and as a culture has played into who I am as an artist today,” Giddens told the News & Record. “What I have been able to do on a national stage and an international stage wouldn’t be what it is without having grown up in North Carolina.”
Giddens will be back in the Triad in September to help launch the inaugural North Carolina Folk Festival, which takes place in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina September 7-9, 2018. Giddens has worked with festival director Amy Grossman to bring additional performers to the North Carolina Folk Festival.
